“Embracing Light and Memory”

Like Claude Monet’s paintings of cathedrals and haystacks, which were a study of the many
changes of light and time on one subject, this installation is meant to be enjoyed in all lights and
different angles. Every moment will be different, with subtle shifts in color, angle of light, sound
and movement, seen or felt.

There are so many beautiful moments in life, so many complex ones, and also so many simple
ones.  “Embracing Light and Memory” is about accessing the memory of those moments thru
the senses.  Thru touch, sight, and sound, however be it subtle, we are attempting to bring up,
the moments of this life that would otherwise be forgotten in the everyday grind.  It is the small
details related to our senses that we replay in our minds as we become older.  The smell of clean
sheets drying in the sun, the sound of the screen door closing, the light of the setting sun on a
loved one’s skin, the crinkle of a candy wrapper that reminds us of long summer days of youth, all
these moments are what life is truly made of.

The shifting patterns of light and shadow upon a blank sheet, the corresponding shadows
along the ground,  represent the countless paths, the possible words spoken or unspoken, and
possibilities of one’s life from one moment to the next.
